Practice Messages Portlet

Practice Messages portlet is used to display and view sent and received patient messages for your practice or facility. If a document (e.g., eForm) is attached to a message, you can open and view it.

 

To access the Patient Messages portlet click here for instructions.

 

1. Log in to the Covisint portal. Your Home page displays.

 

2. If your organization consists of more than one practice, you must first select your practice from the drop-down list on the Practice Chooser portlet. Otherwise, skip this step. The Practice Messages portlet is on the Home page.

 

 

 


To view received messages:

 

1. Click the Received icon on the menu bar, on the Patient Messages portlet, to change the view to display the messages received by your practice.

2. If you want to view messages received within a specific date range, on the menu bar select the range from the drop-down list (e.g., Today, Last 7 Days, Last 14 Days, Last Month).

3. If the message includes an attachment, click in the first column to expand the view, which displays the name of the document. Click on the name of the document, which opens it in a new window

 

To view sent messages:

 

1. Click the Sent icon on the menu bar, on the Patient Messages portlet, to change the view to display the messages sent from your practice.

2.  If you want to view messages sent within a specific date range, on the menu bar select the range from the drop-down list (e.g., Today, Last 7 Days, Last 14 Days, Last Month).
3. If the message includes an attachment, click in the first column to expand the view, which displays the name of the document. Click on the name of the document, which opens it in a new window.

 

To sort data:

 

1. Click the blue arrow in the header in the fields below. The data can be sorted in ascending or descending order.

    - Received Date

    - Send Date

    - From

    - Patient

 

RESULT:
You have viewed the list of either sent or received patient messages within a selected date range. If available, opened a document attached to a message.

 

If your practice receives a message for a patient that displays a broken link icon in the Patient column, you cannot view any attachments until you create a link for that patient.

 

To link a patient:

 

1. In the Patient column, click the broken link icon, which opens a dialog box.

 

2. On the dialog box, click the Search button to search.

 

3.  When the search results are returned, at the bottom of the screen, click the checkbox in the first column of the patient to which you want to create the link.

 

4.  Click the Link button to link the patient.

 

Note: If the search does not return any patients, you should follow your standard procedure to add the patient through your practice management system (PMS) or through the Add Patient feature in the Portal (if you have the Add Patient option).

 

RESULT:
You have create a patient linked and can view message attachments.

 

The following describes the Fields and Menu Options on the Practice Messages portlet.

Fields section

 

FIELD NAME

DESCRIPTION

 

Click the sign to display the attachments. Click the sign hide the attachments from view.
Note: If no documents are attached to a message, the view does not expand when you click the sign.

 

Received Date

Date the message is received by your practice or facility.
Note: This field only displays if Received is selected on the menu bar.

 

Sent Date

Date the message is sent from your practice or facility
Note: This field only displays if Sent is selected on the menu bar.

 

From

Name of the facility that sent the message.

 

Patient

Last and first name of the patient referenced in the message.

 

Subject

Displays the subject of the message.

 

Attachment #

Displays the number of attachments.

 

 

Menu Bar options

 

Received

Click Received to view the list by received messages only.

 

Sent

Click Sent to view the list by sent message only.

 

Date Range drop-down

Click to select the date range of either sent or received messages to display.

 

Help

Click Help to display Physician Office Help.
