Creating a Container File Record

   When returnable containers are used for shipping, it is recommended that a container file record be established for each container part number and linked to the parts Buyer Part Master  record.  Learn more about Container Records >>>

When creating a container record, place the container part number into the following fields:

• Package Code This will field populates the ‘Package Type’ column on the Delivery Note (packing slip).
   

• Supplier Container Part Number This field is displayed in the ‘supplier container’ drop down list on the ASN form.

• Customer Container Part Number This field will be automatically populated to the ‘buyer container’ field on the ASN form and included in the ASN.
   

• Container Description When the container ‘view’ icon is opened, Container Description field is displayed next to each container part number. It is recommended that the production part number which is shipped in the container be included in the Container Description field.
  
  Note: At least one container record is needed if it is desired to update ‘parts per container’ data in the Buyer Part Master. A container record created for this purpose can have any value in the required Package Code and Supplier Container Part Number fields, for example “Container” or “CNT71”.

• Pallets Reference File At least one pallet record is needed to update ‘containers per pallet’ data in the Buyer Part Master.

• Carriers Reference File You must establish a record for each carrier used for shipping to IAC. The carrier name and SCAC code (Standard Carrier Alpha Code) are the only required fields.
  It is recommended that the carrier name field be entered using lower case letters limited to 25 characters to avoid horizontal scrolling on the ASN form (which will be caused by long carrier names).
